Ice Skating at Deep River Water Park

What better to do when it is cold outside than to go ice skating? I took the children to Deep River Water Park for some outdoor fun and fresh air. Most of the kids had never been ice skating before, so they jumped on the idea of going. So we bundled up and went.

We all put on our skates and headed for the rink. Most of the children could walk well in the sidewalks so I was praying that they would do just as well on the ice. I talked to the referee about some of the walkers to help the kids (that is the red things you see the kids holding on to), but after about an hour most all the kids only need a hand to hold or just having someone next to them to keep them confident. All of the children really took to the ice well, even the 4 year old little girls and boys. The older boys were doing so well that they were watching the other skaters to pick up some tricks. I was even showing them a few things. But after another 30 minutes, they were all going around independently. What smiles came with shouts of, "Look at me Sister!"

Like all fun things, they most come to an end. About 4 o'clock I started to hear, "I'm cold." We started to head off the ice and back into the warn room to change from ice skates to sneakers. All were asking when we could come back as we got climbed into our vans. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day.
