Happy Nameday to YOU!
Sr. Mary Zachary, our beloved cook in the motherhouse in Wauwatosa, was in for a surprise on November fourth. The East Chicago community made a surprise visit the day before. We Carmelites, of course, celebrate the nameday as opposed to the birthday of each sister. The rest of the community had been keeping the secret a long time.
Finally, when Sr. Mary Zachary questioned the large number of pizzas she was being asked to order
for supper that night, Sr. Maria Giuseppe walked in. The timing was perfect! "NO!" Sr. Mary Zachary exclaimed in surprise. The rest of the evening was spent sharing pizza, stories, and of course,
cake. The cake was decorated by Sr. M. Carmelita, who sent it along in lieu of her own presence.
Sr. Mary Zachary thanked everyone for coming to see her, but of course, we thanked her for having a nameday! What a wonderful reason to celebrate!
